Safety grant to reimburse towns for school improvements
from The Middletown Press
Portland, Conn., and school officials are expressing thanks after being awarded an approximately $24,000 school security grant by the state. "After the shootings in Newtown (last December), a lot of new security practices were put into place," said Superintendent of Schools Sally E. Doyen. "But because these expenses were not anticipated expenses, the state decided to reimburse towns for those outlays."
