Helicopter data is still lacking in GPS
from By Michael P. Koval
The avionics market for helicopters continues to grow. GPS and the Wide Area Augmentation System are bringing copter approach procedures to heliports and airports around the world. Helicopter pilots and their passengers can safely fly published copter approaches and navigate airspace thanks to these technological advances. However, recent flights to heliports have uncovered an alarming amount of missing data. Copter pilots beware: FAA-approved and published copter data may not be available in your GPS.
