Multiple threats lead to 5-hour lockdown at Maryland high school
There were tense moments recently at South Carroll High School as multiple and alarming threats of violence against students meant an hours-long lockdown that started right before dismissal. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office said it began receiving telephone calls around 2 p.m. that threatened mass casualties at the school. The school was placed on lockdown, and hundreds of students were stuck in their classrooms for hours as bomb-sniffing dogs and police with assault rifles surrounded the building. As the search went on, anxious parents who didn't know the nature of the threats waited outside.
