Manitobans still face long waits for orthopedic surgery
from Winnipeg Free Press
Manitoba continues to have some of the longest waits in the country for hip and knee replacements. A report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information ranks Manitoba second last among provinces for meeting benchmark wait-times for each of these procedures. Manitobans also have the second longest waits for cataract surgery. Manitoba's health system was able to provide timely hip and knee replacements 68 per cent and 58 per cent of the time respectively in 2013, according to CIHI. Only Nova Scotia had a poorer record.
