Recently, Kindle vice president Peter Larsen stood before a small crowd and unveiled Fire TV, Amazon's solution for a low-cost set-top device. The black brick-like Fire TV checked the necessary boxes for widespread consumer appeal: it's small, powerful, inexpensive and easy to use. But beyond its glossy exterior and revolutionary claims, is Fire TV just another device to add to my growing menagerie of tangled cables? Or is it something more?
