Rutgers requires companies using its logo to help eliminate sweatshops in Bangladesh
from The Star-Ledger
Rawlings, JanSport and other clothing manufacturers could lose their licenses to produce Rutgers University sweatshirts, caps and other apparel if they don't sign a deal to help eliminate sweatshops in Bangladesh, campus officials said. Rutgers will require the 19 companies in Bangladesh that are licensed to produce items with the university's logos to sign an agreement to improve worker safety. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety is a legally binding deal between manufacturers and Bangladeshi trade unions that requires firms to help fund workplace safety initiatives.
