CF-18s no longer fit Canada's NATO pledge

More than a generation ago, when Cold War tensions were real, it was Canada's CF-18 fighter jets that intercepted Soviet Bear bombers testing our most northerly air defences. They still do. Now, we've signed on to send six of the same aging jets to help NATO patrol the skies of member countries threatened by Russian aggression after its armed robbery of Crimea from Ukraine and its sinister shenanigans in eastern Ukraine.
