Jet fuel from sugar cane? Boeing, Embraer to open biofuels research center in Brazil

Boeing is reaching out to the world’s biggest user of biofuels, Brazil, to help the company meet its goal of 1 percent biofuel use in commercial jetliners by 2016. Boeing and competitor Embraer, a Brazilian aircraft builder, on May 12, announced plans to open a joint research center in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to develop an aviation biofuel industry.
