Draft FY 2015 House Appropriations bill for DHS released

from IAEM

On May 27, the House Appropriations Committee released the draft FY 2015 bill for the Department of Homeland Security. Some of the FEMA highlights of the draft bill included $350 million for the Emergency Management Performance Grant; $466.346 million for the State Homeland Security Grant; $600 million for the Urban Area Security Initiative; and $100 million for Public Transportation Security Assistance, Rail Security Assistance and Over the Road bus. The draft bill also included $680 million for Firefighter Assistance, $25 million for the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program, and $120 million for Emergency Food and Shelter. The draft bill includes a provision not allowing any funds to be used to implement the Administration's proposed consolidation of the homeland security grants into a National Preparedness Grant Program unless specifically authorized by Congress.
