Quebec Finance Minister tables 'serious' budget
from The Gazette
Quebec's Liberal government presented its first budget since getting elected and outlined several measures to cut spending across the board in the hopes of balancing the province's finances by 2015-2016. The government hopes to eradicate the current $3.1 billion deficit by making cuts in spending in the public and parapublic sectors, hiking taxes on certain goods and backing down on several of its promises made during the election campaign.
