Moms, nurses laud new EPA carbon pollution plan: 'Ultimately, it will save lives'
The Environmental Protection Agency's recent proposal to cut carbon emissions from existing power plants will go into effect in 2015. The proposed rule calls for a 25 percent cut in carbon emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants by 2020 and a 30 percent cut by 2030, compared to 2005 levels. The regulations are meant to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change, but they bring with them major benefits for public health.
