Anti-spam and COPA
On July 1, Canada's new anti-spam legislation will come into effect. Once the law is in force, it will help to protect Canadians by prohibiting the sending of commercial electronic messages (CEM) without the recipient's consent — implied or express.
There are three government agencies responsible for enforcement of the new law: The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Competition Bureau and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The new law provides that a CEM must contain the following information.
