Energy Star releases draft version of Labeling Guidance for Energy Star windows, doors and skylights
from Energy Star
The Labeling Guidance describes the proper use of the Energy Star label on products, product displays and product packaging. All uses of the Energy Star label will need to comply with the final version of this guidance beginning on Jan. 1, 2015.
These updated labels for Version 6.0 use the phrase "Energy Star Certified" rather than the phrase "Energy Star Qualified" that was used under Version 5.0. Partners will be allowed to continue using labels that say "Energy Star Qualified" that otherwise still comply with the new guidance. Over the course of normal operations, partners are encouraged to transition to the new "Energy Star Certified" labels. Going forward, only the new label templates will be available through the My Energy Star Account (MESA) portal, at
Energy Star partners will have until Friday, Aug. 8, to provide feedback on the draft Labeling Guidance. EPA specifically requests feedback on the content, clarity and consistency of the guidance. EPA will publish a final version of the Labeling Guidance shortly after the end of the two-week period.
