Proposed changes to child care laws spell 'crisis' in Ontario
A "child care crisis" is in the works if Ontario's proposed changes to the Childcare Modernization Act are passed into law, says a group of unlicensed day care providers. The Ottawa-based Coalition of Independent Childcare Providers of Ontario (CICPO) is calling on the Ministry of Education to rethink Bill 10. The bill would, among other things, ban unlicensed day care providers from caring for more than two children under the age of two and would cap the total number of children at a day care at five.
