FEMA releases Final Tribal Consultation Policy
Administrator Craig Fugate announced the
FEMA Tribal Consultation Policy
is beginning the next phase of engagement and collaboration with American Indian and Alaskan Native tribes. FEMA remains committed to enhancing its government-to-government relationship with federally recognized Indian tribes. In the spirit of this commitment, FEMA developed this policy to implement Executive Order 13175, Consultation and Coordination with Indian Tribal Governments. The new policy establishes a process for regular and meaningful consultation and collaboration with tribal officials on FEMA actions that have tribal implications.
