IAEM mourns the passing of emergency planning pioneer Joel Chéruet

Joel Chéruet, 71, passed away on Sept. 9, 2014. As a former director of the Gatineau-Metro Police, he was considered a pioneer in emergency planning. Mr. Chéruet, an IAEM member, worked with various Québec and Canadian institutions, in the areas of police, fire, EMS and civil security, at the municipal, provincial and national level. He is survived by his wife, Raymonde Longchamps, two daughters, a brother, and many other family members, friends and colleagues. Visitations will be held at LA COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L’OUTAOUAIS, 95 Cité des Jeunes, Gatineau (Hull sector), on Sept. 19 (5:00-9:00 p.m.) and on Sept. 20 (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.). The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 20, at St-François de Sales Church, 799 Jacques Cartier Street, Gatineau. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospital, Centraide, AQANU (Association québécoise pour l'avancement des Nations-Unies) or the Heart Foundation.
