Limited literacy increases rejection risk among liver transplant patients

Limited literacy may cause liver transplant patients to have trouble adhering to a treatment plan and drug therapy, thereby increasing the chances of adverse clinical outcomes such as organ rejection or graft loss. A new study of liver transplant patients at two transplant centers in Atlanta and Chicago found that, on average, the patients understood only 86 percent of their medication regimens.
