Open carry, campus carry advance in Texas Senate; SAT president comments
Two hotly-debated gun bills are one step closer to possibly becoming law in Texas. Campus carry and licensed open carry bills were approved by the Senate State Affairs Committee Thursday evening. More than a hundred people signed up to testify either for or against the legislation. While most law enforcement witnesses expressed general opposition to the campus carry and open carry legislation, there were notable exceptions. SAT President and Jackson County Sheriff A.J. Louderback said he opposes unlicensed open carry and would recommend those carrying openly to undergo additional training.
