Residents getting ready to vote on another effort to prop up state parks

from San Francisco Chronicle

A new state park bond measure is being developed to appear on the November 2016 ballot. It wouldn't be a required fee, like the failed Prop. 21 in 2010. And it wouldn't be perceived as a giant pork barrel, like the failed Prop. 149 in 1990. The details of the dollar amount of the bond have not been disclosed. But in a switch, local and regional park districts in urban areas would get a new funding source, not just the perpetually troubled (and high-priced) state parks. more
