At many veterinary and medical schools, students still practice suturing techniques on orange peels, pig feet or fabric. To improve that educational experience, surgeons at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science at Colorado State University developed a multilayer silicone suture pad that mimics live tissue — and founded a company called SurgiReal.
