Vigorous exercise for the knee-challenged
from The New York Times
High-intensity exercise typically involves repeated bouts of brief, lung-burning intervals, interspersed with a few minutes of easy recovery exercise. High-intensity interval training is appealing because it improves health and fitness in much less time than longer moderate workouts, studies show. The downside is that some types of intense intervals, such as sprinting, involve a thudding impact on the ground, which is inadvisable for people with sore knees.
