Study: New approach identified for treating Alzheimer's disease

A molecule known as P8 could stop the build-up of a toxic protein in the brain which leads to Alzheimer's disease, new research suggests. Using mice engineered to develop the disease, researchers at the University of California San Diego have developed and tested the novel compound, which reduces the production of beta-amyloid, one of the key proteins thought to cause the condition. The team published their findings in PLOS One.
