Texas House passes Dallas legislator's bill requiring police shooting
data to be reported

The Texas House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday that will make the Attorney General's office a clearinghouse for information about shootings by police. The bill, championed by state Rep. Eric Johnson, D-Dallas, requires police departments to report shooting data to the Attorney General within 30 days of a shooting. It passed, 142-0, with two representatives voting present.
