Lake San Antonio slated for layoffs, closure, again

The Monterey County Parks Department is all but guaranteed to lose Lake San Antonio to closure this summer in the wake of a costly attempt by county supervisors to keep the lake open and staff in place for a year in hopes rainstorms would replenish the reservoir. New county parks director Mark Mariscal laid out the challenges the financially troubled parks system is facing during a report on the current and next fiscal year budgets to the Parks Commission.
