Drought heroes pull plug on mud bath

The list of villains might outnumber the list of heroes in the ongoing drive to conserve water, but add one name to the good column: the Epilepsy Society of Kern County, which decided to cancel its annual Mud Volleyball Tournament, the sole source of income the organization relies on to stay afloat. Though the group had secured the permissions necessary to turn Stramler Park into a man-made mini lake, and several teams had already signed up for the tournament, organizers said they couldn't justify using the critically low resource amid the historic drought.
