Anders Lindall, the more-than-capable spokesman for AFSCME's Illinois Council, did a first-class job of spinning last month when the court decision came down overturning Chicago's attempt at pension reform. The language of the Illinois Constitution is clear, and so is the impact of cuts that harm pensioners who, on average, only get $34,000 a year, says Lindall, referring to members of the Municipal Employees Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago.
