Hospital seeks out efficiencies to cope with surging demand for MRIs
from Windsor Star
Everyone wants an MRI these days, putting such demand on Windsor Regional Hospital’s two machines that only 20 per cent of the low-priority cases are getting scans within the 28 day target recommended by medical experts. The more urgent cases — such as scans looking for cancer — are for the most part being done within the targeted limits of 10 days for Level 3, two days for Level 2 and immediately for Level 1, but if you need an MRI for your shoulder, back, knee or hip, you’ll wait 65 days at the hospital’s Met site and 94 days at its Ouellette location.
