Day in History, Sept. 29, 1928: Flight over Barren Lands the greatest air trip in Canadian history
from Edmonton Journal
Journal readers were carried high above the Barren Lands of the Northwest Territories, never before seen by man, by a story about a history-making flight. Richard Pearce, editor of the Northern Miner newspaper published at Cobalt, Ontario, who made the flight on Aug. 28, called it the "most ambitious air trip made in Canada to date," and the "greatest airplane survey of this country’s history."
