School bus safety rule change held for further study
from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
A Common Council committee has decided to hold off on approving new school bus safety rules for Milwaukee, saying more study was needed. Members on the council's public safety committee voted unanimously to hold the proposed ordinance, which would require motorists to stop for school buses that are loading or unloading children throughout Milwaukee. The ordinance also would require school bus drivers to use flashing red or amber warning lights and extend a stop signal arm while stopping to drop off or pick up students.
