Tampa pros welcome FAA move to register hobby drones
from The Tampa Tribune
In April, a drone hovered within 20 feet of an Air Force tanker jet near MacDill Air Force Base. Two months later, one of the unmanned aerial vehicles reportedly stalked a woman outside a downtown bar before crashing into her car. The Tampa, Florida, area already is seeing its share of hazards from irresponsible drone operators and the number is expected to rise as people snatch them up for holiday gifts. To ratchet down the threat, the federal government announced it will require many hobbyist drone aircraft operators to register their devices.
