|Where in the World is SCAI? Society to Focus on CTO and TAVR at Great Wall Meeting This Weekend
Where in the world is SCAI? Society leaders will be in Beijing, China, this weekend presenting a full day of sessions focusing on advanced interventional therapies including CTO, TAVR and other transcatheter valve therapies on Saturday, Oct. 31, including a live case demonstration broadcast from Capital Medical University, Beijing An Zhen Hospital.
The day will begin with the Society's immediate past president Charles Chambers, MD, MSCAI, inducting two dozen new Fellows of SCAI (FSCAI) from China.
The first session, "Lesion Assessment and Strategy Selection in CTO" will begin at 8 am. Chaired by Luis Guzman, MD, FSCAI, and Chinese interventional experts, this session will cover. The highlight will be a presentation by Manos Brilakis, MD, FSCAI, presenting "How to Re-enter the Main Lumen in CTO Using the Stingray and Crossbow Devices."
Next, SCAI will host a session focusing on TAVR strategies and techniques moderated by Art Lee, MD, FSCAI, and Chinese experts. Marvin Eng, MD, FSCAI, will lead a discussion on patient selection and Nelson Bernado, MD, FSCAI, will focus on the value of imaging. This session will also include a recorded case presentation by Neal Kleiman, MD, FSCAI.
Thach Nguyen, MD, FSCAI, and Shaolian Chen, MD, FSCAI, will moderate a follow-up CTO session focusing on alternative approaches to CTO. The session will be highlighted with a live CTO case transmission presented by Manos Brilakis, MD, FSCAI, and Nie Shaoping, MD, FSCAI.
SCAI's one-day interventional program will wrap up with a final session focusing on the current state of TAVR both globally and in China, including an update on the latest in techniques and access approaches by Neal Kleiman, MD, FSCAI. more
