A new look at high school attendance across Nunavut shows that students' relationships — with their parents, friends and their own young children — have the biggest influence on a student's decision on whether they stay in school. From 2001 to 2014, the average attendance rate among high school-age youth in Nunavut stood at about 60 per cent.
