Former Hill County sheriff pleads guilty in licensing scheme

A former North Texas sheriff has pleaded guilty to felony records tampering for his involvement with falsified state certification testing records. A judge sentenced former Hill County Sheriff Michael Cox to four years of deferred adjudication, fined him $3,000 and ordered him to perform 80hours of community service. The judge also ordered him to surrender his state peace officer's certification and formally resign as sheriff.
