Better World Project: Artificial Lung Helps Patients Breathe Easier
An artificial lung device developed by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh provides respiratory support to people with acute breathing problems. Harmful carbon dioxide is filtered out while healthy oxygen is delivered directly into the patient’s blood — allowing the lungs to heal and the patient to quickly begin breathing more easily.
