Urge Congress to finish ESEA reauthorization before adjournment
Union leaders are encouraged that last week, after months of speculation and work, the joint U.S. Senate and House conference committee approved the staff recommendations as amended to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act for the first time in years.
The House of Representatives is planning to take up the conference committee recommendation after the Thanksgiving break. The Senate is expected to follow. It's important for educators to let Congress know that our students are depending on them to finish the job and deliver a bipartisan bill to President Barack Obama to sign before adjournment.
