RVDA urges modification to new overtime rules proposed by Department of Labor
From Sept. 16:
RVDA has submitted comments to the Department of Labor urging it to consider economic impacts and regional income differences before it goes through with its proposal to revise overtime pay rules. The agency is trying to raise the salary threshold from $455 a week to $970 a week in 2016. RVDA told the agency that regional differences in pay and cost of living make a uniform pay threshold unjustified. RVDA also said the DOL proposal could cause employers to make currently exempt salaried employees into hourly employees.
