Ads on school buses reduce their safety for a very small gain
from Press of Atlantic City
School districts were slow to start selling advertising on their buses when the state legalized it nearly five years ago, but little by little more are reaching for the tiny revenue it generates. That's understandable given the strong desire to find new revenue sources, but it's unfortunate for two reasons. Ads on school buses are another step toward commercializing the school environment. While signs on the sides of buses might be intended for car drivers or parents, children and school personnel will be compelled to look at them every day, too.
