Cathy Miller honored as the Dianne Watson Volunteer of the Year
At this week's SPPA Holiday Party, Cathy Miller, MAS, was honored with the Dianne Watson Volunteer of the Year Award. The award was established last year and named in honor of it's first recipient — Dianne Watson. Dianne's volunteerism with SPPA spanned over 30 years and included two terms on the board and two terms as president.
Cathy has been with Geiger for the past 15 years and currently serves as VP Sales for the Mid-South Region. Like Dianne, she served two terms on the SPPA Board of Directors. She was the 2000 and 2001 president and returned to the Board in 2011 and 2012 to help her friend Dianne during her presidency. She has also served as our RAC delegate and on the RAC Board of Directors. Also, much like Dianne, Cathy has served far beyond the SPPA region. She has served on the PPAI Awards Committee and Member Services Committee and as president of our neighboring regional association — PPAMS.
"Her years of service make her an ideal candidate for this award," commented SPPA President James DeBoer during the presentation, "but it's her willingness to make our industry better for all of us that makes her a 'no-brainer' to receive this award."
The award was presented during the SPPA Holiday Party at The Club in Birmingham. Visit our Facebook page to view photos from the event:
