from Surrey Mirror
A glider pilot who perfected his skills at Kenley Airfield has been crowned the world junior champion. Tom Arscott beat 30 international rivals in the 12-day competition in Australia. The 23-year-old was just 12 when he first took to the skies at Surrey Hill Gliding Club, based on the Caterham and Kenley border. Formerly of Purley, mechanical engineer Mr Arscott moved to Shoreham in west Sussex in September.
