First patient in US to undergo TMR, osseointegration receives modular prosthetic limb
Surgeons at Johns Hopkins University have successfully attached the Applied Physics Laboratory’s Modular Prosthetic Limb to an amputee’s residual limb, a first in the United States for the field of O&P. “This accomplishment has eliminated one of the biggest gaps in prosthetic development: the socket,” Michael McLoughlin, MS, chief engineer in the Research and Exploratory Development Department at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Lab (APL).
