Scientists suggest clean teeth may reduce risk of stroke
from Health Aim
Oral health or properly taking care of your teeth may significantly help reduce the risk of having stroke, a new study shows. Researchers found that the oral bacteria, causing dental cavities or tooth decay, contribute to certain types of stroke. In the study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers discovered the link between hemorrhagic strokes and the oral bacteria, cnm-positive Streptococcus mutans. Hemorrhagic strokes occur when blood vessels in the brain rupture and cause bleeding.
