Kids use emoji balloting to rate school lunches
School lunches may be healthier than ever, but that doesn't mean that the kids are eating them. In fact, it was found that 26 percent of the food budget for Boston's middle schools ended up in the trash after students dumped the offered items. Translated into nationwide terms, that amounts to more than $1.23 billion worth of school food per year, according to a study by the non-profit School Nutrition Association. They also found that more than 1 million less kids are opting for school lunches.
