New data shows women clergy earn 85 to 90 cents for a man's dollar

from Religion News Service

Until recently, national data on the clergy pay gap was unavailable or unreliable, in part because of the relatively few numbers of women clergy. But in January, Tobin Grant reported on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that found women clergy receive 76 cents for each dollar paid to their male counterparts. Specifically, the bureau reported that in 2014 male clergy earned $1,007 per week; female clergy earned only $763.

A similar conclusion appears in MinistryPay.com, the national church staff compensation survey of The Church Network. MinistryPay.com allows you to input your church's data and then create custom reports, which compare your church's data to those of the churches meeting your chosen criteria, such as region or state or metro area, denomination, operating budget, and many more.
