Pedestrian safety highlighted as US sees spike in fatalities

Walking is one of the most popular forms of exercise and transportation today. But is it becoming one of the most dangerous, too? While walkers were busy tracking their step counts, the Governors Highway Safety Association was tracking the number of pedestrian fatalities in the first six months of 2015 — and the numbers will make you look twice before crossing an intersection. The report states pedestrian fatalities now account for the largest proportion of traffic fatalities in 25 years.
