McGill surgical resident files complaint about disability-based discrimination

A surgical resident who says he was forced out of McGill University's arduous training program has filed a complaint against the university with the Quebec Human Rights Commission, claiming he has suffered unfair discrimination because of a learning disability. The young doctor, who was given a diagnosis of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after he started a surgical residency at McGill in 2011, says McGill's refusal to accommodate his disability gravely affected his mental state and finally forced him to resign from the program — under pressure and in despair — in November 2013. more
