Drug education programs vary for today's students

A handful of counselors work with Hazleton Area School District students who are at a vulnerable age for drug experimentation at a time when abuse has become an epidemic. "Marijuana and heroin use are on the rise locally," said Eileen Panzarella, a counselor with Pathway to Recovery, a city agency that helps addicts get services. The education they're giving students is different from what the youths would have been exposed to in the not-too-distant past.
