Adding CCS to power plants could cause river problems
from Environmental Research Web
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) may be the only way that the U.K. can meet its future greenhouse emissions targets, but has the nation got enough water to support the extra cooling capacity that CCS power stations will require? One of the U.K.'s major power plant locations — the River Trent — could be put under severe strain in the future, a study has shown, with abstractions exceeding available water during dry periods if CCS power plants are clustered along its banks.
