Houston falls behind Dallas-Fort Worth as top home building market
from The Houston Chronicle
Houston dropped behind its chief rival Dallas-Forth Worth as the top single-family housing market with a slipping number of new homes being built thanks to dropping oil prices and a chill in the red-hot market, according to Metrostudy. Houston had 27,263 new housing starts in the first quarter of this year, which is down roughly 3,000 home year over year, the regional planning firm said in a statement. Dallas is now the leading market in the country, taking Houston's spot. Dallas had 28,878 housing starts reported in the first quarter.
