Info on New Overtime Rule and ATs
In the final rule recently released by the Department of Labor addressing overtime exemptions, the standard salary threshold for overtime pay was increased. While there is a regulation in existence that indicates athletic trainers are generally exempt from overtime, if they satisfy certain duties and salary criteria, NATA recommends all ATs review their job duties and salary. If you believe you don't fall within the professional exemption that likely applies to most athletic trainers, you should speak to your employer. Each athletic trainer's situation is unique, and the overtime rule will affect everyone differently. More information is available at the NATA website.
