Criminal case defendants have the right to bond
from The Courier
The last two murder cases in Hancock County, Ohio, involve defendants who were out of jail at the time of the crime on either medical furlough or on bond. A Findlay man who was shot and killed by an officer during a struggle last year was also out on bond. Judges say that unless it's a capital case, everyone has the right to bond. "Everybody's entitled to a reasonable bail," Hancock County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Niemeyer said.
